The New York Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA), founded in 1897, is one of the largest state accounting organizations in the nation with more than 29,000 members. The Foundation for Accounting Education (FAE) is a separate organization created by the NYSSCPA. Both organizations realized they were in need of rebranding to appeal to a new generation of CPAs and increase membership. In addition, although their old logos already matched stylistically — the effect was too subtle for outsiders to recognize. FAE’s previous logo made no reference to the century-old organization that supports it.

Now, both logos include the “NYSSCPA” acronym, creating a stronger graphic relationship between them while, also allowing them to stand alone as individual marks.

This bold approach was in response to their design brief, which asked us to bring their century-old organization into the 21st century. We created a brand style guide with colors and typefaces that mix bold and modern with elegant and traditional sensibilities. Colorful conceptual illustrations replaced staid stock photos as we redesigned their suite of marketing materials with an updated approach. We also designed their interior signage when they moved into new offices after the branding assignment was completed.
